Hey guys, sorry this took me a bit to post, yesterday was a bit hectic. Here's our plan, read up on the articles and everything- I'm excited about our lesson, I think we did a great job coming up with stuff. Can't wait to teach it!
(Hook) Skit (1-2 mins)
(Intro) Ask students to name some of the apps discussed in the skit Introduce some of the ways apps can be used in the classroom (Top Educational Apps link) (2-3 mins)
(Body) Discussion on validity of using apps/smartphones in the classroom Three examples: 1. Mount Carmel School in Meriden, CT (Meriden link) 2. PDS Class @ MU 3. Zeeland, Michigan students (Special Needs link) (~5 mins)
Ask students what sort of apps they would like to see- small group discussion (5 mins)
Ask students to give 1-2 apps that they talked about- large group discussion (3-5 mins)
(Closing) Mention that they can create their own apps and give a brief overview of iBuildApps (2-4 mins)
This is Mallory I didn't know how else to get a hold of everyone but our power must have gone out last night and we are still out of power...I just woke up now and live about 40min away but I will be there as soon as I can!!! Luckily I have my smartphone to be able to write this and notify everyone about the dilemma...there's an app for that.

Hey folks, this is Eric- as Dr. Dietrich said we are to use this page to discuss and share ideas with one another. I'm gonna create some separate sections where we can post videos, articles, interactive sites, etc. I'll also make a discussion section purely for us to brain storm.

AudioNote - it's a notepad and a voice recorder (good for students)
Collin: Well, if it isn’t my favorite group of teachers. What can I get you to drink?
Tim: Hey Collin, I will have a Shirley Temple
Sonja: I will have an Arnold Palmer
Mallory: Can I get a Phil Collins
Eric: I will have the same
Collin: (walking away) I do not know how to make any of those things… good thing there’s an app for that.
Sonja: Tim, did you see the score of the game last night?
Tim: No I didn’t… but there’s an app for that.
Eric: (looking at Mallory) I am feeling a little home sick, I haven’t seen my mom in 2 months
Mallory: Good thing there’s an app for that. You can say hello and see here right now!
Tim: Hey Sonja, I am supposed to do an experiment outside tomorrow. Have you seen what the weather is supposed to be like tomorrow?
Sonja: No but there’s an app for that. Ya know, smart phones are so powerful, there has to be a way we can use smart phones and apps in our classroom, right?
Eric: Well I have encouraged my kids to use a flash card app for their vocab words.
Mallory: Yeah I actually asked my students to download an application that can make their phones and tablets graphing calculators.
(Collin returns with cups)
Tim: There is actually this amazing app where my students can look at maps and zoom in on certain areas and can show students what maps of the world looked like during different time periods throughout history.
Collin: There is actually a whole section of educational apps you can look at on the Apple Store and the Android Market
Sonja: Wow really? I had no idea. I guess I will have to check it out.
